TIME for Tee... from Pin to Tie Tack... AMAZING Inspiration from Brenda Burfeind

Hi, Brenda here from Creativity is a State of Mind and I'm here today to show you how you can change the way you wear a jewelry piece.

A while back I had received a beautiful golf bag pin from our Creative Team Leader Susan. She knows how much my family and I love golf and thought I would like this piece.

I'm in love with it and I put it on my golf cap immediately – and it's been there ever since! I did have to take it off to create a duplicate... while I love that it's a pin, I did think hubby might like a tie tack.

Easy peasy! Using your Amazing Mold Putty, Alumidust, Amazing Casting Resin with a couple of drops of Alumilite Black Dye and you have yourself a beautiful piece in a matter or minutes. After the golf bag cured, I added a tack pinback with E6000® and now hubby has a new tie tack.

You can jump over to my blog HERE and see the full tutorial – but please leave a comment and let me know here what you would mold and change up.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Poe Poe Pitiful Annabel Lee... a Tabletop Display by Tanya Ruffin

Inspired by a recent trip to Edgar Allan Poe's New York Cottage... it is tiny!

And also by an awesome Stevie Nicks rendition of "Annabel Lee".
If this doesn't conjure up all kinds of haunted imagery, I don't know what will!

If you have trouble viewing video, please click here.

On this trip, I collected an Edgar Allan Poe key chain
and a copy of Poe's handwritten Annabel Lee poem.

I made a batch of Amazing Mold Rubber and created a mold of the book charm and while waiting, a color copy of the poem.

I created two molds with this batch of Amazing Mold Rubber; a day of the dead skull and the Poe book {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}.

At the Dollar Tree, I purchased a string of skeletons and a tabletop tombstone. I painted a black and brown wash over the skeleton to age it and painted the tombstone solid black.

Then decorated the tomb with my posed skeleton, the book cast in Amazing Casting Resin, and poem that I coated in Amazing Clear Cast Resin.  I've included the poem text below.

I also embellished with a gargoyle (from Dollar Tree that I also made a mold of using Amazing Mold Rubber) and a raven skull from a purchased mold. All embellished with Silver Rub 'n Buff®... lots of Rub 'n Buff®!

I just love that it is actually Poe's handwriting!

Bet you never thought of this kind of souvenir!

Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

~ Edgar Allan Poe

Amazing ARTchaeological Exploration and #Cre8time while Traveling... by Susan M. Brown {sbartist}

Hello Amazing Crafters! Susan here to take you on a little mold making exploration in the tropics. I just returned from a weeks holiday in beautiful Jamaica. I couldn't resist packing a little Amazing Mold Putty along with my watershoes, binoculars and camera. Our hotel was a beautiful resort with a mix of old and new architecture nestled amongst lush gardens and landscaping... providing loads of interesting finds for molding potential.

My Amazing Mold Putty parts "A" and "B" were equally measured in some recycled condiment cups giving me two balls that were approximately 1 1/2" round – perfect size for one nice mold {or a couple tiny ones}. This was small enough to stash in my carry-on bag with my snacks and other gadgets – and it went right through security and customs without a hitch.

After several days of rest, relaxation and exploring... I had to use a scrutinizing eye to make my final decision as to what to mold. I had so many options! I fell in love with these giant marble-like tiles around the resort that were 2" thick cut slabs of petrified coral reef that exposed all the beauty, shapes and textures of the preserved sea life. This is what I decided to mold.

My hubs and I ventured out early with me on our last morning abroad to partake in an ARTchaeological adventure {after some bribing with coffee first}. It was nice to have an extra set of hands to take photos, too! He actually enjoyed seeing what I do with Amazing Mold Putty and how it works...  a win-win!

We ventured out just after sunrise to scope out the perfect spot to take an impression and not draw attention to ourselves on our covert molding mission. I settled on the marble patio in front of the resort spa. It has a lovely sitting area with a large area of coral tiles with benches for us to sit and enjoy our coffee while we wait for the Amazing Mold Putty to cure. So many designs and textures to choose from! I selected the bottom right image above to mold... one with a nice mix of positive and negative shapes.

As a precaution, I brought along this spray I have for my hair to control frizz that is oil based to spray to the marble so my Amazing Mold Putty will release easier from this extreme detail. A couple spritzes did the trick and seemed to soak right in to this ancient coral. I popped out each part of mold putty out of the containers and mixed together until there was no swirling.

I smoothed and flattened the Amazing Mold Putty out into a flat disc and pressed into my chosen shape – making sure to press the putty completely into the cracks and recesses.

I brought the sides in to keep the shape circular and of uniform thickness. Now we sit and enjoy our morning coffee and the surrounding gardens as we wait for the Amazing Mold Putty to cure. Though it was about 80 degrees outside, the tiles were quite cool to the touch, so it took a few minutes longer for the mold to harden than usual. It was ready after about 20 minutes.

My hubs was very intrigued and excited at this point and was more than happy to man the camera as I pulled the mold back for the REVEAL!

The Mold putty picked up a little sand that was embedded in the crevices, but that will wash off when I'm ready to use for a casting. When I get home I will mix another batch of mold putty to add a border to my captured sea treasure to hold resin, polymer clay or perhaps even concrete.

Thanks for joining me on our little ARTchaeological adventure! We are home now and not only do I have this fabulous mold for arting, but a special memory shared with my hubs from our travels. Susan M. Brown {sbartist}... an AMAZING Artist Spotlight

Today we feature the artist behind the scenes of the Amazing Crafting Products Creative Team... Susan M. Brown... or in other words – me. We have featured all of our other AMAZING creatives, and since I've been traveling this week, this seemed a good time to play our fun question game. I'm a mixed media artist and graphic designer who dabbles in varied media and Amazing Crafting Products have forever changed my artistic vision {click here for more of my backstory}! I am always on the lookout for the ULTIMATE item to mold and cast into something extraordinary... even when traveling. I am proud to lead this team of AMAZING CREATIVES and I still have to pinch myself every time I see my head and headband on a package of Amazing Mold Rubber in the craft store. Enjoy!

Some fun questions for the inquiring minds...

What did you want to be when you grew up?

The first astronaut to step foot on Mars.

Coke or Pepsi???
There is no question... PEPSI!

What inspires you?
Things in nature, everyday ordinary objects, food - inspiration comes anytime and from everywhere. I make sure I have a pencil and pad handy so I can jot them down.

What is the TOP thing to do
on your "Bucket LIST"?

This is a really tough one. As a kid - we moved around a lot. Being from Chicago - I have done a lot of things. Chicago is a cultural melting pot and there's loads to see and do. We moved from Florida back to Chicago on the Amtrak train that went up the east coast to Washington DC. We spent days roaming the Smithsonian on a layover. I went to high school in Daytona Beach during the heyday of MTV Spring Break in the late '80s. I've worked as a valet parking attendant where I parked exotic cars. I had my dream job working at an advertising agency... as a graphic artist for nearly 10 years. I share my love of creating online to educate and inspire others while working alongside amazing creatives. I've traveled too – been to Paris, Alaska, Mexico, Holland, Curacao, Jamaica, the Bahamas {doesn't really count since it's practically part of FL} and a smattering of states in the US. My hubs and I have been married 21+ years {together 24} and are normally homebodies in our down time but when we travel it's like we are different people... extreme travelers.

We've climbed Chichen Itza, the Eiffel Tower, visited the Monet Gardens, drove from Paris to Holland, went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, lunched at the Top of Vancouver, hiked on a Glacier in Alaska, zip-lined across the White River Gorge in Jamaica; went 4x4 offroading in Cabo {dirtiest fun ever}, ventured inside caves that were ancient reefs in Curaçao, viewed famous art in galleries all over, sat in club seats in United Center during the Jordan era, spent a day having our own Ferris Bueller's Day Off experience in Chi-Town {minus the fancy car}, been to the Grand Canyon, traveled to see bands out-of-town {the best being Def Leppard in Cedar Rapids, Iowa}, hiked Stone Mountain in GA, mountain biked in North Carolina... we work tirelessly at our jobs and when we spend time together it's concentrated and fun.

There's so much I haven't done yet so I couldn't put my finger on just one thing... as long as my hubs is by my side, the next adventure will be the TOP thing on my bucket list. We just returned from a week of doing pretty much nothing in Jamaica where we enjoyed sleeping in, room service, tropical breezes, sunshine and being offline.

If you could print any phrase
on a T-shirt, what would it say?
HELLO!!! Can you SEE me Now!!?? People are always walking into me... including birds and bugs - like I'm invisible {no joke}.

If you could mold ANYTHING with
Amazing Mold Putty, what would it be?
What can't I mold in Amazing Mold Putty!?? I carry it with me just about everywhere. Even took a little to Jamaica with me for some ARTchaeological exploration. Here's a sneak peek...

What style of music gets your creative juices going?
There's so much great music to listen to. Some days it's classical - some days Jazz. But ALWAYS, good old 80's hair metal and new wave. Give me the triple D's... Def Leppard, Depeche Mode and Duran Duran... it's about the only stuff loaded on my iPhone.

Just a #Cre8time Dab of AMAZING...
with DeeDee Catron

Hiya resin friends :)

DeeDee here today to share a little inspiration with you. Recently I've been joining in on some ATC swaps to hone some of my skills on a smaller scale. Small is not easy for me, and I'm finding this learning curve to be quite enjoyable.

It's been particularly fun bringing in some of my favorite companies that almost require a big presence, like resin and molding supplies from Amazing Crafting Products

Here is a set of ATCs I recently finished where the theme was as open as "buttons." If you've been following our blog long, you'll know that I love molding and casting vintage findings, more often than not detailed buttons. So if your mind went THERE, too bad! The buttons on these ATCs are actually chipboard. The resin comes in on the leaves!

This is part of the learning process for me, and maybe it is for you, too, but I don't always have to have a BIG, GINORMOUS, IN YOUR FACE resin embellishment. Instead, on this ATC trio, I dipped my leaves in the Amazing Clear Cast Resin and then sprinkled them with glitter. I set them to the side, allowed them to cure, and then I had a glitzy little glam of an embellishment.

Other Supplies : Viva Las VegaStamps!, UmWowStudio, May Arts Ribbon, Ranger Ink, Prima Marketing, ImagineCRAFTS.

What might you have
that could use a little sparkle?
Feel free to visit me on my own blog where I'll have more details
on creating these ATCs.

AMAZING #Cre8time Spooks and Spells... Frog Eggs by Rachel Whetzel

Hello, AMAZING peeps!! It's Rachel Whetzel... this month, I am preparing for Halloween! It's one of my favorite holidays, and I have a pretty extensive collection of Witch's Apothecary items for my mantel. Every year, I try to add a few new items to my collection, and most of the time, I like to create those pieces myself! This month, I created some Frog's Eggs and created them in a witchy mid-potion display!

Here's what you'll need to make frog's eggs of your own:

Start by mixing your Amazing Mold Putty. (Please CLICK HERE for more detailed instructions on how to mix Amazing Mold Putty.)

Press Marbles into your mold putty like so:

Next, mix Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I wanted my frog's eggs to have a slightly white look, so I decided to experiment by mixing some Amazing Casting Resin (which dries white) with my Amazing Clear Cast Resin. I mixed them separately, and then combined them into a 4:1 ratio, (4 parts Amazing CLEAR Cast Resin to 1 part Amazing CASTING Resin) combining the Amazing Casting Resin mix with the Amazing Clear Cast Resin once they were each mixed separately. CLICK HERE for directions on mixing Amazing Casting Resin and Amazing Clear Cast Resin. The results were very interesting! If you don't want to try mixing the two, you can use Alumilite WHITE Dye to get a cloudy look in your Amazing Clear Cast.

Once the resin was dry, I popped out the balls, and sanded up the flat side a bit.

Then I pained black ovals onto the round side, and glued them into place in my cup where I wanted them. Gluing before the next step will keep your pieces from floating to the top of your Amazing Clear Cast Resin while the resin cures.

Finally, I mixed a tiny drop of Alumilite BLACK and Alumilite BROWN Dyes into some Amazing Clear Cast Resin, and poured it over my eggs. (When I say tiny, I MEAN tiny!! My "pond sludge" turned out a little darker than I planned. I could have used a tiny bit of each dye color on the tip of a toothpick and gotten a more see-through result.)

Before the Amazing Clear Cast Resin was cured, I tipped my cup over, so that the inside of the finished piece would be easier to see from a front view on my mantle. I love the way the tipped cup gives the illusion that the witch who owns my apothecary has just stepped away to grab a couple more ingredients for her newest spell!

What kind of spooky fun are you
brewing up this Halloween season?

Got BONES??! An AMAZING Seasonal #Cre8time CASTING CALL... by Isabel Villarreal

Hi there crafters! This is Isabel and if your summer has been as busy as mine you probably just realized that Halloween is right around the corner. In preparation for Halloween and all the future creepy crafty stuff I plan to make, I decided to make my own scary stash of bones and skulls. Since I have a variety of skeletal needs for the season I decided to make molds using Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Mold Rubber for casting a skeleton and a few different pieces.

I used Amazing Mold Putty to make copies of a plastic skeleton. I wanted to be able to cast individual parts of the skeleton so I cast the upper body first then took it apart to cast a separate bottom half. This way I could get a good imprint of both. Since this skeleton is about 5 inches tall with very simple shapes I used the Mold Putty to make a quick easy mold {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Using Amazing Casting Resin, I made a perfect copy of the original plastic skeleton {CLICK HERE for mixing/preparation of casting resin}.

These skulls were sculpted from Sculpey polymer clay and then baked for a few minutes in a toaster oven. Because these are only about 1/2" tall I wanted to be sure to capture the tiniest details so I decided to mold these using Amazing Mold Rubber. It starts as a liquid so it can get into the smallest areas to create mold that yields highly detailed castings {CLICK HERE to view mixing/preparation}. Here I used Amazing Casting Resin with a few drops of Alumilite Brown Dye to make my castings.

Now that I can cast as many copies as I need since I have these handy molds – I'm ready for some Halloween craziness. With Amazing Mold Putty and Amazing Mold Rubber your creative possibilities are endless. And since they are so simple to use, making your own crafty stash is quick and easy.

What Halloween goodness
will you be creating this season

I'd love to see what you create! Please upload and share your creations to the
